Girls star Jemima Kirke focuses on being strong not skinny - and she's using Pilates to do it

Written on the 15 July 2015 by Studio Pilates

In an interview with her Pilates trainer, Cadence Dubus, she told the website Well and Good that "strong is the new skinny" and that women should "Set a realistic goal that's something maintainable, that's conducive to your lifestyle. Sometimes, you're going to have a hard week and be too tired to work out, and that's okay. You're human."

The actress, artists and mother of two is very time poor and so implementing a healthy lifestyle which focuses on strength-building exercises in an efficient way is really important.

Kirke's trainer said that it is important for women to just be themselves and set their own goals, without comparing themselves to others. With a background in dancing Dubus told the website that "I already know the body is capable of so much more than an outside aesthetic it's about feeling proud and grateful for the body that you have."
