How are you using your Pilates training?

I am teaching in a small company owned by my mother in law, who trained me throughout my Pilates training with Studio Pilates, the only other instructor is my sister in law Tanya. I also work as a personal trainer delivering private Pilates sessions.

What has been your greatest challenge as a Pilates instructor?

I think being more body confident. Pilates can make such positive changes to the body, mind and confidence. And I am at the stage where I am very intune with my body - I've reached a new mindfulness thanks to the deep activation work in Pilates.

What is the one fitness or health related item you can't live without right now?

My mat! It goes everywhere with me - forward and back from Australia to the UK.

What is your personal Pilates/exercise philosophy?

What challenges you now makes you stronger later.

What song or playlist is keeping you and your clients motivated in class right now?

Since we are coming back from beach holidays, probably Dido's "Sand in My Shoes"!

What is your favourite exercise to instruct right now and why?

I love to instruct Pendulum because I'm all about the waist defining shape this move creates. Not to mention how it can be adapted to become more challenging and incorporate the whole posterior chain (Hammies, Calves).

How do you prioritise or find time for your own Pilates practice?

I practice in the mornings because it wakes my body up and settles me in for the day. And then I can prioritise and adapt to manage any tension or tightness I am feeling.

What is the greatest tip you could give another Pilates instructor?

Get on the mat. Playing with the movements and learning how to connect and feel is vital when breaking them down to teach to someone else. That's why I love Pilates because even small focus movements which are usually over looked can have such a massive difference to strength and mobility in the body.

What does 2017 hold in store for you?

I am starting my own blog and growing my own business!
