3 Benefits Of Getting Active With Your Family

Families who train together, gain together, but these kinds of gains extend far beyond just the physical realm. Being active with your family has been proven to have a whole host of incredible benefits including strengthening your bond, building and role modelling healthy habits, improving cardiovascular health, promoting screen-free time and so much more!

We love seeing families in the studio together and whether it’s mother’s and daughters, sisters, fathers, mother figures, fur parents and everybody in between getting their Studio Pilates classes done together, with Mother’s Day just around the corner, we thought this was the perfect time to reveal 3 benefits of getting active with your family.

  • It sets a good example
Children look up to their parents, no matter how young or old they are and everything we learn is role modelled from our parents. Active parents are more likely to positively influence their families and empower their children to live actively too and the sooner you learn the importance of physical health and wellbeing, the sooner you’ll reap the abundance of incredible benefits.

  • Allows quality time
Life is busy, and between the demands of school, university, work, social events and just general life, it can be hard to find time to schedule with the family. While sitting down after dinner to watch TV together is nice, it’s easy to get caught up mindlessly scrolling through your phone and not staying present. Being intentional through action, like attending a Studio Pilates together is a perfect way to spend some quality time together. Exercise releases endorphins, the feel good chemical in our brains that will in turn strengthen your bond and connection. This will trickle into so many other areas of your life and help set the basis for good relationships.

  • It will improve mood & boost confidence
Regular exercise isn’t just good for our bodies, it’s equally as good for our minds too and it’s one of the simplest and most effective ways to improve your mood and boost confidence. When you feel better mentally, it has a ripple effect and will in turn lead you to continue to make healthier choices throughout the day.
