{"id":160,"date":"2015-01-19T09:53:44","date_gmt":"2015-01-19T09:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stage.studiopilates.com\/?p=160"},"modified":"2018-01-17T03:02:36","modified_gmt":"2018-01-17T03:02:36","slug":"congratulations-to-our-august-30-day-challenge-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.studiopilates.com\/education\/congratulations-to-our-august-30-day-challenge-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"What does being a Pilates Instructor involve?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever thought it would be a great idea to become a Pilates instructor but don&#8217;t have a clue how to get started?<\/p>\n<p>Well, the aim of this article is to help shed some light on just how easy it is to start living your dream of helping to tone up others and earning a great living doing so.<\/p>\n<p>First there are a few fundamental questions that you need to ask yourself before embarking on becoming a Pilates Instructor.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you love being around people and having fun?<\/li>\n<li>Do you love helping people to feel better?<\/li>\n<li>Do you feel you have what it takes to motivate and inspire people?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a passion for health and fitness?<\/li>\n<li>Are you an active person who hates being stuck on a computer or behind a desk all day?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you answered yes to all of these questions a career in Pilates may be just what you are looking for and with the right training and skills acquired you are on the verge of changing your life and the lives of others.<\/p>\n<p>The health and fitness industry is a multi-billion industry which is predicted to be the biggest growth industry over the next decade so being an integral part of this booming industry is something to really get excited about.<\/p>\n<p>Pilates is fun, inspiring and most of all rewarding both emotionally in terms of the huge job satisfaction that you gain from helping people, and also financially and can really help to secure your financial future.<br \/>\nSounds good right? I&#8217;m sure you have some questions on how to take the next step so I&#8217;ve surmised some of my frequently asked questions about a career in the industry:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Where can I work\/what types of jobs could I have?<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nPilates Instructors can work in a number of settings, and work both part time of full time, making it a great career choice for people in all situations:<\/p>\n<p>Once you have completed your Matwork course you can:<br \/>\nInstruct Matwork Classes or small group\/private sessions in gyms, Pilates Studios or Physio practices<br \/>\nSet up your own Matwork business and take classes in parks\/halls or at home<\/p>\n<p>Once you have completed your Reformer\/equipment courses you can:<br \/>\nWork in a Pilates Studio, Personal Training Studio or Physio practice using the equipment<br \/>\nWork in a gym taking reformer classes<br \/>\nOwn your own Studio Pilates International Franchise<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>How much money does a Pilates Instructor earn?<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nThis may vary greatly depending what you do, what your background is and where you work, but here is a general guide as to what you may expect to earn:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A full time Pilates Instructor wage may start at $35 000 &#8211; $50 000 per annum, and greatly increase from there up to around $60 000 $80,000+ per annum this will vary greatly depending on where you work.<\/li>\n<li>For Matwork classes in gyms or studios, you can expect to earn anywhere from $35 to $70 per hour depending on your experience and how good you are at getting clients into your class.<\/li>\n<li>If you run your own Matwork class business you could earn up to $200+ per class depending again on how many attendees you get and how much you charge.<\/li>\n<li>If you own a Studio Pilates International Franchise studio, your earning potential skyrockets you can earn $100 000 &#8211; $120,000+ per annum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>What type of experience\/background do I need to have?<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nPeople come in from all different backgrounds. Some are Physiotherapists, massage therapists, chirporactors, acupuncturists, fitness trainers, whilst others have no expereince in the health and fitness industry thus far and come from a corporate or retail background for example, but just love Pilates. At Studio Pilates International, we have courses to cater to all backgrounds and no prior experience or study is required we teach you everything you need to know to be a great instructor, right through from the anatomy of the body, common injuries and posture, to the complete extensive repertoire of Pilates exercises and how to teach them in many different settings.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>How long does a Pilates course take and how much do they cost?<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nHow much of the training you wish to complete will determine how long the course takes and how much it costs and each company is different in both the time a course takes and the cost of the course. You may choose to start only with your Matwork certification and teach matwork at a gym or studio, or you may wish to focus on a career in Pilates studios and complete the full equipment certification. The cost to become a Studio Pilates International Certified Matwork Instructor is $799 for our Early Bird Special, this course is 3 days. The cost for full studio certification starts at \u00a0$4539 for our Early Bird Special rates. This is done in modules using the Pilates refomer machines and takes a little time and patience to complete.
