Reformer Pilates makes you realise you have muscles in places you didn’t even know about. It’s a workout that burns your booty and flattens your abs while mostly laying down and my personal FAVORITE style of exercise!
For those yet to experience this life-changing exercise style; Reformer Pilates is done using a reformer machine. This machine is a sliding carriage with straps and a spring meconium. The workout involves movement with your arms or legs in the straps whilst increasing or decreasing the springs to add resistance to your workout, depending on your strength and ability. Each exercise is fashioned to enhance your fitness, increase flexibility and strengthen your muscles.
I had the pleasure of recently completing the 30 Day Challenge at Studio Pilates in Newstead. This challenge consisted of 20 workouts in 30 days and wow…did I feel it! The workouts tone every…single…tiny…muscle you didn’t know you had. At Studio Pilates your workout is demonstrated to you via a TV screen, then the amazing instructors move around the room and make sure you’re working in the perfect form, and to your hardest capability.
After completing this challenge I noticed such a change in my form and strength. I tend to arch my back a lot causing me all kinds of pain and by learning how to activate my ‘T-Zone’ in my reformer classes I’m learning how to avoid lower back pain in my everyday life.
