Studio Pilates appoints Director of Franchising to lead global expansion

Australian success story Studio Pilates has appointed John L. Scott as Director of Franchising, in a move that reflects the company’s global ambitions and rapid pace of expansion.

Scott is a senior national and international franchising specialist, who comes into the role with a wealth of experience as Franchisor, Master Franchisee and Multiple Franchise operator in national and international markets. He joins Studio Pilates from the Specsavers Optical Group, where he has held the positions of Director of Franchising Northern Europe,  and Director of Franchising Australasia. Most recently he was Director of Partner Engagement Newmedica, creating franchised Community Ophthalmology Clinics in England.

Studio Pilates CEO and founder Jade Winter said “the appointment marks a significant step forward for us, and an investment in the achievement of our mission to see one million people do our workouts each week”.

Studio Pilates International offers a unique high intensity, low impact workout that caters for individual needs. Its passionate following can be attributed to its combination of innovative class delivery, luxe studio space and the total body changing results that have become synonymous with the brand.

Winter sees franchising as a key growth facilitator, allowing the brand to achieve the now signature Million People Plan. “ With such an ambitious vision, franchising is the obvious way to go. We’re really excited to have John on board, his experience in international franchising and in growing businesses will be a major boost in helping us to achieve our global expansion, and ultimately achieve our goal”.

Studio Pilates International is already set to take the US by storm. The brand has opened its first US location in Louisville, Kentucky, to an overwhelming reception from the local residents, and is set to repeat this success in Brooklyn in a matter of weeks.

The US expansion follows a continued pattern of growth for Studio Pilates International, which currently has over 80 studios open or in pre-opening stages across Australia, New Zealand, China and the US.

According to Scott, the global demand for premium fitness offerings is continuing to develop “we are fielding enquiries every week from all over the world, which is amazing. The US, U.K. and Canada are hotspots for us at the moment,” he said.

While aiming to capitalise on the increasing international interest, Scott says finding the right franchise partners remains critical, both in maintaining brand image and ensuring the business keeps its clients happy. “Studio Pilates offers a franchise system that has a proven track record of success, great training programs and most importantly, a robust system that provides outstanding consistent excellence. We believe consistent excellence is the hallmark for franchise success in the long term,” he says.
