Global Studio Pilates Conference 2023

There are so many benefits that come from owning a franchise. In addition to existing brand awareness, easier access to finance and less risk, being part of a franchise business gives franchisees ongoing opportunities for education, training and most importantly peer collaboration. When you invest in a Studio Pilates Franchise, you also become part of a global network of like-minded business owners, who understand what you’re going through as a studio owner, which is invaluable.

For this reason, Studio Pilates hosts an annual Global Conference, which gives the entire network the opportunity to come together to collectively celebrate the achievements of the last 12 months, present strategies and initiatives for the year ahead, and learn and be inspired from keynote speakers. This year, the Studio Pilates Global Conference was held in breathtaking Queenstown, New Zealand, at QT hotel, with stunning panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains and included a jam-packed two days! With a huge year ahead, this year's theme was ‘Bring It On’ - bring on new countries, bring on new franchisees and bring on new super stretch goals.

To kick things off, Studio Pilates co-founder and CEO Jade Winter shared a look back on some of the biggest achievements of 2022. This included the opening of 20 brand new studios, 1.5 million client visits, 3200 graduates of the Studio Pilates Training Academy and a whopping 40% growth in network revenue YOY (to name just a few). In the spirit of achievements, the 2022 network award winners were announced, seeing 14 franchisees collect trophies for their outstanding performance, which is one of the most anticipated segments of the annual conference.

One of the biggest benefits of joining a franchise is gaining access to a huge network of peers who are all on similar journeys and facing similar challenges. With all of our franchisees in the same room, we took this opportunity to host a Franchisee Panel, where we heard from 3 franchisees, who are each excelling in their regions, to very generously share some of their biggest key learnings. Melanie Johnson from North Shore blew the room away sharing how she absolutely smashed her studio opening in a brand new region. Lynn Kraus from Crows Nest and Neutral Bay shared how she structured her team to juggle two studios with a very demanding full-time corporate role and Taryn Currie from Rangiora spoke about team building and managing expectations.

To wrap up the first day with a bang, world renowned keynote speaker Sebastian Terry flew into Queenstown all the way from LA and inspired everyone in the room with his incredible story (there were definitely a few tears shed - happy ones of course). Sebastian has presented in front of big global companies including the likes of Google and Bank of America, who described his presentation as “nothing short of life changing”.

He aims to both inspire and empower everyone to become the very best versions of themselves, both in and outside of the workplace, and blends humour and authenticity with data-driven research and actionable takeaways!

After his keynote, Sebastian facilitated a goal-setting workshop, sparking participants to not only set goals for themselves and their businesses, but action them too. Sebastian got everyone up and out of their seats and out of their comfort zones, to take the first step to achieve their goals by sharing it on the phone with an accountability buddy.

After a huge first day, it was time to wind down, relax and catch up over a margarita (or two) followed by a delicious dinner at QT's renowned Bazaar Restaurant.

Day 2 was officially launched with Studio Pilates fearless co-founder Jade Winter who presented strategies for how to simultaneously drive revenue within your studio, create a positive and inspiring team culture and maintain a high-performing team.

Throughout the two days, each team from the Global Support Office including Marketing, Finance, HR, Business Operations and Education presented insights and strategies for the year ahead with plenty of time for questions and collaboration.

It certainly wouldn’t be a Studio Pilates conference without a core challenge and this year three franchisees broke a record, holding the Pilates Hundreds Level 3 position for 7 minutes. Congratulations to everyone who participated and a huge shout out to our winner Loren Pennisi from Coolum Beach.

Back by popular demand, leadership and development coach and founder of Luminate Leadership Cherie Canning delivered an incredible presentation about how to create a high-performing team by design. Cherie was a favourite at the 2022 conference for her engaging and interactive sessions, and this year was no different. After her presentation, Cherie gave everyone the opportunity to get really granular with themselves by discovering their 6 core human needs helping them better understand their needs as a leader and in turn the needs of their managers and team members.

The conference concluded with a Golden Hour Sunset Cruise down Lake Wakatipu; raising a glass to celebrate the end of a very successful few days and feeling ready and raring to BRING IT ON in 2023!
