Why did you decide to do the SP 30 Day Challenge? What was the trigger, the thing that motivated you to join the Studio Pilates 30 Day Challenge?
I decided to do the 30 Day Challenge as a motivation tool to spark my fitness journey to help me feel more confident, stronger and enthusiastic about life. I had started attending Studio Pilates a couple of months beforehand, and thought that this Challenge would be a great way to get me into shape and help me change my outlook on life.
What did you like best about the Challenge itself?
My favourite part about the Challenge was the support from everyone at the Takapuna Studio. They were genuinely interested in how I was going, and wanted to help me in any way that they could. They know that I love to push myself in classes physically and helped me work on my technique to allow me to do this.
Did you ever feel like giving up?
I felt like giving up at the end of week 2 in the Challenge. I did not think that the planning, eating and sacrifices I was making were worth it, and wanted to just get back to the way I was living before the Challenge started. Retrospectively, I am so glad that I talked to studio owner, Claire, about how I was feeling, and the results from me sticking to it have changed everything!
What was your biggest accomplishment by the end of the program? How has doing Studio Pilates changed your outlook on life and your health?
I have gone down 2 dress sizes – I haven’t been this size since I was 16 years old! I also found that a great achievement is the fact that I stuck with this Challenge and did not stray away from it once, even when I felt like giving up! I am so proud, and frankly, surprised at my achievements, and cannot wait to see what else I can achieve!
I have a newfound respect for my body and what it can achieve, it is way more than what I could have imagined. I feel more confident in my body, and don’t shy away from tighter clothing or figure-hugging dresses – I want to show my hard work off! It’s a great feeling to be able to do that, and my mental and physical health has thanked me for it!
The environment and vibe in these classes is great, it is inclusive and warm.
What would you say to people who have never experienced Studio Pilates?
I would tell them to just GIVE IT A GO! Before starting at SP, I thought that Pilates was for super fit people but there are a huge variety of people in the classes!
The environment and vibe in these classes is great, it is inclusive and warm, and everyone is just there to get their own workout done (and to have a bit of a laugh of course!).
This has become my new lifestyle and I am not looking back!
