Aussie Pilates Franchise Set to Tackle the US

Australian fitness franchise Studio Pilates is set to light up the Big Apple this year when the brand launches its inaugural U.S. studio in Brooklyn.

Speaking with Inside Franchise Business, founder and director Jade Winter revealed that U.S. growth had been high on the franchise’s priority list and would kick off with the South Slope development.

“We will be opening our first locations in the U.S.A. in 2019 with in Brooklyn scheduled to open around September,” Winter said.

“Our mission is to change the way the world works out, so each time we have the opportunity to introduce our workout to a new city or country it’s incredibly fulfilling.”

The latest expansion announcement follows a continued pattern of growth for Studio Pilates, with outlets popping up across Australia, New Zealand and a network first in Guangzhou in Southern China.

Winter said global demand for premium fitness offerings was continuing to develop, with pilates proving to be one of Australia’s most important franchise exports.

“We have hundreds of people enquiring each week from all over the world, which is amazing. The U.K. and Canada are both hotspots for us at the moment,” Winter said.

“The great thing is that Pilates been around for close to 100 years now, so you know it’s going to continue to grow stronger and even more popular year after year.”

Winter acknowledged that franchising internationally had presented some unique cultural challenges, however the advice he had for prospective franchisees was universal.

“Always look for a franchise system that has a proven track record of success, great training programs and most importantly, a robust system that provides outstanding consistent excellence. I believe consistent excellence is the hallmark for franchise success and makes for a franchise system that grows and grows indefinitely for decades to come.”

Studio Pilates currently operates 28 outlets across Australia, New Zealand, China and soon to be the U.S., with further growth expected for later this year.

“We have further expansion currently slated across Australia in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide,” Winter said.
