We are so excited to give you more opportunities to complete our Anatomy Course and Matwork Course fully online via Zoom while bunkering down at home!
To complete the training via Zoom, you must meet some basic requirements. Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with all 6 requirements below and ensure that you meet all of these requirements prior to enrolling in a Zoom course date.
To complete the Anatomy Course fully online via Zoom, you must have completed all 40 hours of online pre-course learning. This means that you have watched and ticked off every lesson in your online training centre. If a lesson asks you to watch a revision video a certain number of times, it means that you have completed this in full. You should also have completed all 3 pre-course exams (for bones, joints and muscles).
To complete the Matwork Course fully online via Zoom, similarly, you must have completed all 40 hours of online pre-course learning. Again, this means having watching and ticked off every lesson in your online training centre and having completed the 1x pre-course exam.
You can still enrol in a Zoom course date if you haven’t yet fully completed your online study. But this has to be completed in full at least 1 week out from the course date.
Please note that we will be cross referencing everyone’s online study to ensure that it is completed in full prior to the course. So if you have enrolled in a Zoom course date, but haven’t completed your study in full by the time of the course, you will need to reschedule your course and pay the required course reschedule fee.
We can’t emphasise enough how important this pre-course learning is and how much more confident an instructor you will become through having completed it in full. So it is definitely a mandatory requirement to completing the course fully online via Zoom.
The fully online Zoom course format works really well, but only if you have good internet! And unfortunately that isn’t the case for all of us. What’s frustrating is that often your internet speed is beyond your control as it can depend on a range of factors such as what internet plan you’re on, whether you have NBN and how far your home is from the internet exchange.
If your internet speed isn’t fast enough, your connection will drop out or will be blurry, which affects not only your learning, but also affects the other students in the course who are trying to see your body and instruct you through an exercise.
So because of this, and in an effort to be fair to everyone, we have set some minimum internet requirements. To complete the Anatomy or Matwork Course fully online via Zoom, you must have internet with a minimum speed of –
To test your internet speed –
Remember that you need a minimum download speed of 15 mbps and a minimum upload speed of 5 mbps to participate in the online training. If your internet speed is not at this level, unfortunately you will not be able to complete the course via Zoom as the experience will be significantly reduced for both yourself and other students on the course.
The next requirement is having the gear at home to get the most out of the Zoom training. You will need a relatively new and up to date computer which you can use to download and access Zoom. Unfortunately you won’t be able to participate in the Zoom training via a mobile or tablet as the screen is just too small and you will be spending a lot of the course looking at your fellow student’s technique and correcting them, so it’s important to be able to have a large enough screen to see people clearly. The bigger your screen, the better.
If you have headphones with a microphone to plug into your computer this is ideal also as it can make the audio quality so much better. Wireless headphones are best because you can get up and down off the mat easily without being connected to your computer. However if you have wireless headphones, it’s important to test these thoroughly with your computer before the Zoom course to ensure that they connect easily via bluetooth.
And finally, you will need a yoga or Pilates mat! This will make it much more comfortable for you when performing the exercises. If you don’t have a mat at home, it’s not the end of the world. You could use a couple of beach towels although it may not be quite as comfortable!
You will also need access to a quiet, private room for the duration of the course where you can learn and participate uninterrupted from kiddies or pets! You also need enough light so other course participants can see your body clearly and cue you through the exercises.
For the Zoom course, it is ideal to have a hard copy of the course manual and this will make your learning so much easier!
If you only have a digital copy, you will need to purchase a hard copy from us, or print the manual yourself or cue the manual up on a second computer or iPad.
You just don’t want to have to be constantly switching screens on one computer between Zoom and the digital manual. So you will need to access the digital manual or a separate device or have a hard copy handy.
And finally, the last requirement for the course does link back to the first requirement about the online, pre-course learning. But we thought it was worth emphasising this one separately just because it makes such a difference to your learning!
If you are completing the Matwork Course, you receive 3x sample class programs in your online training centre. As a part of your online pre-course study, you are asked to complete each of these 3 workouts a minimum of 5 times each (or 15 times in total).
We really want to emphasise how important it is to watch these sample class programs at least 15 times. This is our co-founder Tanya’s main tip for mastering your course and ensuring that you come prepared. Students who have watched the workouts a minimum of 15 times usually not only excel in the training, but also tend to get so much more out of the course.
So that’s a great little extra tip to set yourself up for success with your training.
