What has been your favourite Studio Pilates course to complete?

Definitely the Matwork and the Platinum Instructing Courses. They were both challenging in different ways. I love the keen eye for detail and making sure that everyone leaves with a really clear understanding of the body, all exercises and how to instruct confidently, knowing that clients will be in the BEST hands.

How have you been using your Pilates skills since completing your instructor training?

I’m instructing and in demand across 3 studios! I continue to enrol in further courses to enhance my knowledge, as well as daily instructing to build my confidence with lots of different bodies so that when I open my own studio I am armed and ready.

What has been your greatest challenge as a Pilates instructor?

Backing myself!

How has COVID-19 changed how you instruct?

Covid has actually been one of the most beneficial times for me and my instructing.

I have taken on 1:1s which has boosted my confidence as an instructor, it has led me to engage with my clients in a unique way, allowed me to find my own voice and know that Pilates if my forever career!

What is the one health or fitness related item that you can’t live without right now?

Literally anything Pilates related… small ball, bands, circle, reformer… anything!

What is your personal Pilates or exercise philosophy?

Enjoy the unique deep Pilates burn and try to practice as often as you can, even if it’s only for 20 minutes. You’re only going to feel more amazing in yourself!

What song or playlist is keeping you and your clients motivated in class right now?

Study Beats on apple music is my fave and gets a lot of love from my clients.

What is your favourite exercise to instruct right now and why?

Long Stretch (Level 2) and Knee Stretches (Knees Off) [from the Reformer Course] can you believe!! They’re both such a challenge! Long Stretch is just that – you feel long and strong. Knee Stretches (Knees Off) forces you to put mind over matter, head down and just go!

Long Stretch 2 (On the Feet)

How do you prioritise or find time for your own Pilates practice?

As soon as I finish instructing I throw myself straight onto the reformer. That way, even if I’m exhausted, I’m there and I’m ready to go.

What is the greatest tip you could give another Pilates instructor?

Make sure you take time to rest but more importantly – have fun!

Instructing is a wonderful career and clients will love you more if you really love and enjoy what you do!
