What has been your favourite Studio Pilates course to complete?
They’ve all been great. Loved the Reformer Course. Wendy was an amazing instructor and teacher.
How have you been using your Pilates skills since completing your instructor training?
I have started teaching alongside with my Reformer Pilates instructor and I have created my own business BEAM Pilates where I teach mat Pilates to locals at the park. I have created a new social media page where I have started sharing videos.
What has been your greatest challenge as a Pilates instructor?
I have had to deal with health issues for the most part of the year which I have had to take time off practising Pilates. Now that I am back into it I have struggled with the fact that I have lost strength and flexibility. Having to teach Pilates while not feeling 100% or confident is something that I’ve had to face and overcome. But I know I’ll be back feeling strong soon.
How has COVID-19 changed how you instruct?
I have been unable to teach reformer in the studio and have started teaching private outdoor mat classes.
What is the one health or fitness related item that you can’t live without right now?
I can’t live without my mat
What is your personal Pilates or exercise philosophy?
It’s not about how hard you go it’s about controlling the movement.
What song or playlist is keeping you and your clients motivated in class right now?
Spotify – lounge-soft house
What is your favourite exercise to instruct right now and why?
I love teaching Scooters with holds and pulses [from the Reformer Course]
How do you prioritise or find time for your own Pilates practice?
I schedule my own workouts with my weekly diary. I set a time each day between my early morning classes and evening classes.
What is the greatest tip you could give another Pilates instructor?
Be your confident self. You know your stuff and trust in yourself.
