How are you using your Pilates training?

Combined with Equipilates to teach horse riders to improve their posture and therefore, their horses’ way of going.


What has been your greatest challenge as a Pilates instructor?

Educating riders that they will benefit from this and it will make a HUGE improvement in their riding.


What is the one fitness or health related item you can’t live without right now?

Ensure you are fit and healthy enough to do what you love to do.

What is your favourite exercise to instruct right now and why?

Lat Press with the Circle as lat awareness and strength is very important in riders to keep trunk stable and elbows into sides. Also a Pelvic Curl while holding one ankle, as this shows up weaknesses in the Obliques.


How do you prioritise or find time for your own Pilates practice?

I get a mini workout each time I instruct as I do a few reps of every exercise to demo. I also practice full sessions if I am incorporating new exercises into session plans. My two boys (1.5 & 4) also lay all over me so I get weighted versions!


What is the greatest tip you could give another Pilates instructor?

Own it and they’ll assume you know what you’re doing!


What does the rest of the year hold in store for you?

Growing my Equipilates business, furthering my Pilates knowledge and learning from my clients.
