WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE STUDIO PILATES COURSE TO COMPLETE?

I can’t really pick a favourite as it would be like choosing a favourite child. I have differing levels of joy with each one.

However if I had to pick one it would have to be the Matwork Course.  It challenged me the most, it was the most beneficial for me. I have been able to maintain and improve my strength.  It is also a practice that I am able to manage at different life challenges/stages.

HOW HAVE YOU BEEN USING YOUR PILATES SKILLS SINCE COMPLETING YOUR INSTRUCTOR TRAINING?

Initially I started using my Pilates skills at a gym, which I have continued to do so and now in my own online business.  Eventually I would like to set up a private practice at my own home/studio.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST CHALLENGE AS A PILATES INSTRUCTOR?

The greatest challenge that I have encountered is being able to adapt my classes to suit the differing levels and abilities of my participants and for myself.  This has been most beneficial for me as I have been able to work on and improve my skills.

HOW HAS COVID-19 CHANGED HOW YOU INSTRUCT?

My instructing has changed immensely  – I have been teaching on Zoom and soon to be taking outdoor classes.  I have improved the way I instruct as I have to explain it better to my participants; I am able to focus on each participant and ensure that they are getting stronger and practicing safely.  My Zoom classes are interactive and I give them real time feedback and correction. My participants are doing more classes now than they were prior to COVID-19 and are becoming stronger.

WHAT IS THE ONE HEALTH OR FITNESS RELATED ITEM THAT YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT RIGHT NOW?

No joke, my Pilates

WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL PILATES OR EXERCISE PHILOSOPHY?

Keep trying, keep moving, it will happen.

WHAT SONG OR PLAYLIST IS KEEPING YOU AND YOUR CLIENTS MOTIVATED IN CLASS RIGHT NOW?

ABBA songs
80s songs

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE EXERCISE TO INSTRUCT RIGHT NOW AND WHY?

Corkscrew [from the Matwork Programming and Progressions Course] is my favourite as it keeps my core strong and challenges me in the execution of it.

Corkscrew

HOW DO YOU PRIORITISE OR FIND TIME FOR YOUR OWN PILATES PRACTICE?

I need to make time each day, even if it is just 5 minutes.

WHAT IS THE GREATEST TIP YOU COULD GIVE ANOTHER PILATES INSTRUCTOR?

Try not to over think it and a standard routine with little challenges is best.
